But first, I want to give a shout out to our newest Unraveled Yarn Club members from one of my favorite Facebook groups, Knit & Chat! I was fortunate to post on their “Self-Promotion Saturday” thread and gained a whole new group of club members! Thank you very much for taking a chance on a small business and giving us a try! Please remember – we love ALL feedback, good or bad, and we love to see the projects you make with the yarns you get – so make sure to tag us on Facebook and Instagram so we can see how gorgeous your work is!
Which brings us to our newest yarn …drumroll, please!
It’s time to see what was in February’s Box!
In this month’s box: Araucania Huasco Sock – Introducing Araucania Yarns from South America! Huasco Sock is a fluffy, handpainted sock yarn made of 75% superwash merino and 25% polyamide. We chose Santiago and Costa Verde for our colorways because we know Spring is right around the corner (it is, right? Please?!? CAN IT PLEASE BE AROUND THE CORNER!?!?) so what better way to “Think Spring” than cover ourselves in fun, bright shades!
Our knitters will be making one of my very favorite sock patterns – Vanilla Latte Socks – this very easy to follow pattern leaves plenty of room for customization, with several heel options. This is also a great pattern for beginners, as well as old pros. It breaks up the stitch work just enough to keep it interesting, and these socks work up pretty quick. It’s a go-to for me and I’ve made socks of all sizes for my kids, up to the big guys in my family. For your needles, instead of DPNs I’ve included a 40” size 2 circular for the “magic loop” method. If you have not done magic loop, there are some great tutorials on YouTube, it makes socks super easy and keeps all the stitches in line, making it easy to put down and pick up again. This month I’ve chosen Lykke Driftwood circulars. I found this beautiful birchwood needle brand at my favorite LYS in Sarasota, Florida this past summer and I couldn’t wait to bring them to Unraveled. Lykke is the Norwegian word for “happiness” – and I sure hope these bring you just that!
Our crocheters will be trying something new from us – we’ve selected a fun pattern from Churchmouse Yarns – The Thoroughly Modular Granny: Cowl, Scarf or Loop. Using an H hook and fingering yarn, and working into chain spaces, you will be making a cowl, scarf, or infinity scarf (your choice!) that looks intricate but is super easy to stitch. The pivoting between the panels makes for elegantly simple breaks in the pattern that are subtle enough to blend in with the playful color changes of the yarn, but still stand out in the entire work. As for your hook, I’ve chosen something special for you too- Chiaogoo’s Flat Bamboo handled hooks! The short feel can take a little getting used to, but the shorter shaft will make the thinner yarn glide easily and quickly over your hook, and I think you will find it’s a different feel, but one that is easy to work with, and helps with dexterity while working your double crochets.
Right now we have 13 lines of Araucania Yarns up and ready to shop – and we have a new policy – From now on, your order ships within 3 business days or you don’t pay for shipping! That’s right! If it takes more than 3 business days – your shipping is FREE.
